Description
Providing governance, risk, and compliance data insights to drive improvement across the IT system
Planning the implementation of processes and procedures for the identification and assessment of risk in the organisation’s information system
Managing risks relating to information technology and cyber-security
Measuring and monitoring IT compliance
Developing systems and processes for the management and reporting of risks
Providing insights and recommendations on risk management to the executive team
Reviewing current and proposed information systems for compliance with the company’s business strategy
Developing standard operating procedures for IT systems to ensure compliance with corporate governance
Key Responsibilities
- Governance Framework Development: Design and implement IT governance frameworks, ensuring that IT activities align with the organization's objectives, regulatory requirements, and risk management strategies.
- Risk Management and Compliance: Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with IT operations. Ensure compliance with regulations such as GDPR, SOX, or ISO standards.
- Policy and Procedure Oversight: Establish and enforce IT policies, standards, and procedures. Ensure all IT operations follow predefined guidelines and are continually updated as per industry standards.
- Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with business leaders, IT teams, and other departments to ensure proper communication and alignment of IT and business strategies.
- Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor IT performance, including system uptime, data security, and operational efficiency. Regularly report on IT performance, risks, and compliance to senior management and stakeholders.
- Project Oversight: Oversee IT projects from a governance perspective, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and meet organizational standards.
- Strategic Alignment: Ensure IT investments are aligned with business priorities, helping to justify IT spend, and maximizing return on investment (ROI).
Required Skills And Experience
- Leadership and Communication: Ability to lead governance initiatives, collaborate across departments, and communicate with executives.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, and regulatory requirements.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to assess and manage risks, compliance, and IT performance metrics.
- Certifications: Many roles prefer certifications such as COBIT, ITIL, CISA, or CGEIT (Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT). Typical Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field.
- More than 10 years of experience in IT governance, IT management, or a related role.
- Familiarity with IT governance frameworks like COBIT, ITIL, or ISO standards.
