About The Team

BNP Paribas’ Global Markets business offers a broad range of products and services in the global interest rates, credit, currency, equities & commodity markets. Global Markets help their franchise of clients find effective ways to raise and invest capital as well as manage their exposure to risk. Their client base comprises of hundreds of corporations, institutional investors, banks, governments and supranational organizations.

Global Markets has the scale and reach to conduct business anywhere in the world and deliver products denominated in almost all of the world’s currencies. The primary objective of the Strategy and Strategic Investments team is to be the strategic thought partner and advisor to the senior management of Global Markets and General Management of the Bank, to guide and support the management of the activity. The team has also the mandate to lead and manage the equity investments in companies that Global Markets makes (in Fintech for instance, or through M&A transaction like the deal with Deutsche Bank). The team is located in London, Hong-Kong, Paris and Lisbon.

Your Main Activities Are

The role of the Strategy and Strategic Investments analyst is to:

  • Support the senior team members in building the strategic planning process for Global Markets globally
  • Analyse the competitive benchmarking for Global Markets to duly understand the industry landscape, the competitors’ business mix and evolution, the revenue pool variations, the market and wallet share evolution, etc
  • Support the senior team members in projects of strategic relevance to the business
  • Support the senior team members in managing the relevant business development topics (acquisitions, JVs, partnerships, divestments, etc.)
  • Support the preparation of deep-dive analysis on the performance of the business

Profile And Skills To Success

  • Graduated from Business School or Engineering School (or equivalent)
  • At least 3 years experience in banking, consulting, finance or business management
  • An overall understanding and interest in the financial world
  • Team player and cross cultural awareness, collaborate and provide information to colleagues and stakeholders
  • Structured, methodical approach and ability to prioritize considering possible impacts on the business
  • Excellent communication skills in both native and English languages (all our communications and documents are in English)
  • Passion, tenacity and resilience in fast-paced environment
  • Presentation skills – able to put together well structured and easy-to-follow presentations conveying the key messages and findings from the work completed
  • Strong Microsoft knowledge (particularly Excel and PowerPoint)
