Uber Eats was launched in Portugal in November 2017 and is the most used Delivery platform in Portugal. We are available in 100+ cities, delivering from over 12,000 stores (restaurants, groceries and stores) and growing quickly!

With GR we are building Uber's next 10^10 business. While continuing to lead in food delivery, we're expanding beyond restaurants to offer consumers almost anything at their fingertips-whether it's groceries, essential goods, or retail items. The business is still at a very early stage, with an ambitious growth target. With a focus on rapid growth, cutting-edge technology, and a seamless user experience, we're pushing the boundaries of convenience in the on-demand ecosystem.

As part of the User Ops team - Consumer GR role, you will be responsible for driving consumer adoption, engagement and retention for both new and existing categories within our retail portfolio. You'll be responsible for developing data-driven insights, creating strategies, and scaling the most impactful and innovative business initiatives to grow our Grocery & Retail business in Portugal. This segment requires new approaches to our user growth and you will be responsible for uncovering insights and executing the growth strategy. This role will work closely with the rest of our Operations team, and drive alignment across several teams, including local Grocery & Retail teams, Regional Operations and Cross-functional

What You'll Do

  • Data insights: you'll leverage the power of data to drive key business decisions and shape the future of Uber's expanding marketplace. By analyzing vast datasets, you'll uncover actionable insights that optimize user experience and unlock new growth opportunities. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to translate data-driven insights into strategic initiatives, ensuring we stay ahead of industry trends. Your ability to interpret complex data, identify patterns, and communicate findings will be critical in driving the continued success and innovation of our platform
  • Execution: In this role, you'll be at the forefront of turning ambitious ideas into tangible results. You'll execute growth initiatives from concept to completion, ensuring flawless execution at every stage. This involves coordinating with diverse teams, managing resources, and overseeing project timelines to deliver high-impact outcomes that drive business growth.
  • Experiment: experimentation is key to innovation and growth. You'll design, execute, and evaluate experiments. By testing hypotheses, exploring new ideas, and leveraging testing, you'll identify opportunities for optimization and expansion. Your ability to embrace ambiguity and take calculated risks will be crucial in driving continuous growth in our platform
  • Strategy & Initiatives: you'll be responsible for shaping strategic initiatives rooted in deep analysis to drive growth and market expansion. By analyzing key business metrics, consumer behaviour, and industry trends, you'll identify high-impact opportunities that can be transformed into actionable initiatives.
  • Stakeholder management: Effective stakeholder management will be crucial to driving success across various initiatives. You'll build and maintain strong relationships with key internal stakeholders, ensuring alignment on goals and priorities. This involves clear communication, managing expectations, and navigating complex needs across cross-functional teams and leadership.
  • Be the voice of the Portuguese market toward Product teams: Maintain links between on-the-ground teams and our Regional and Product teams for everything we need to build on the User Operations. You will also need to collaborate and lead projects involving cross-functional teams like Finance, Central Ops, Marketing, Legal, Comms, etc.

What You'll Need

  • A minimum of 3 years in analytical roles; background in a growth role in a fast paced startup or in operations management, management consulting, investment banking or strategy work in a large business preferred
  • A BSc or MSc in a quantitative field, such as economics, mathematics or engineering
  • Analytical & critical thinking and experience with data-driven decision-making, ability to deal with data (reports, experiments, pricing models) and exercise good judgment in ambiguous circumstances and effectively communicating across a complementary team
  • Business acumen, ability to seize and prioritize opportunities based on feasibility and potential
  • Executor with bias for action and a proactive personality with ability to take initiative in a constantly changing work environment and adopt a generalist do-what-it-takes mindset
  • Creative 360 thinker: you are able to think outside the box and come up with new approaches and initiatives to reach ambitious growth targets
  • Excellent excel skills
  • Proficiency in English and Portuguese
  • Working rights in Portugal (no sponsorship available)
  • Experience with SQL is a plus, or comfortable learning and using new software tools
  • Industry knowledge in the on-demand / same-day delivery space and experience or interest on the grocery & retail space is a plus
