The EIB, the European Union's bank, is seeking to recruit for its Finance Directorate (FI) Coordination Division (COOR), at its headquarters in Luxembourg: TRAINEE

Duration: 5 months (fixed start date: 1st March/April 2025)

(With possible extension up to 6 months if required by University)

Please note that you are requested to limit your applications to a maximum of three traineeship publications. We will only consider and retain the first three applications submitted.

Objective of the traineeship

You will support the CCB team with the performance and development of 1st line of defence compliance activities and controls, including reporting, to ensure Anti-Money Laundering /Combatting Financial Terrorism requirements are consistently implemented.

In addition, you will assist in the implementation of Market Abuse regulation-related automated controls, tools and reporting within the Finance Directorate, including supporting related technical developments.

You will support the Processes Team in updating and maintaining its business process diagrams and procedure documents. Under the guidance of a supervisor, you will collect requirements and support the configuration of new process diagrams for FI’s internal and transversal activities, support the identification and establishment of links to the Internal Control Framework (ICF) of the Bank, and ensure that FI activities are properly linked and represented in the EIB's overall activities structure.

Finally, you will support the PRI Unit and wider Division with digitalising their processes and developing a common Reporting Platform.

Responsibilities

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Ensure support of the team in their activities, you will assist in the day-to-day coordination and management of compliance controls, activities and reporting for the alignment of AML/CFT, Market Abuse and MiFiD regulatory requirements.
  • Support the implementation of automated controls, including collaboration on technical developments and reporting in alignment with the requirements stemming from the Market Abuse regulation.
  • Explore digital solutions for the PRI Unit’s processes and develop the Division’s Reporting Platform.
  • Support the update and creation of Business Process Diagrams for the Finance Directorate.
  • Analyse the activities structure in Finance Directorate and ensure its alignment with the bank's activities' structure.
  • Collaborate with FI Directorate teams and collect their requirements and comments on Risk and Controls of their activities and link them to the Directorate's Business Processes.
  • Support the TPP Team in their periodic activities.

The tasks do not require previous knowledge of the Finance Directorate yet will provide you with a very good overview of its activities and control tasks.

Academic Qualifications And Professional Skills

  • Final year of studies or University degree in Law, Finance, Business Management, Computer Sciences or related disciplines;
  • Good understanding of EU inter-institutional framework;
  • Good understanding of compliance and control functions in financial institutions;
  • Knowledge of Business Process Modeling Tools (like Mega Hopex) will count as an advantage.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office tools, particularly MS 365;
  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English and/or French, and a solid understanding of the other. Knowledge of another EU language will be considered an advantage.
